Privacy notice for our NYC helpline
What information we collect
When you contact our drug treatment NYC helpline, we collect your name and phone number, and if you choose to share them, details about your insurance and your situation. We ask only for what helps a treatment advisor connect you with the right level of care, and you can decline any question without losing access to the free call.
The information you give us stays with the helpline team. We collect your name, phone number, and optional insurance details solely to help you find care in New York City. Without those details, an advisor can still offer general guidance, but connecting you to a specific program may be harder.
The reason we request this information
We use your information to match you with SAMHSA-listed facilities that fit your insurance and the kind of care you need. As of November 2026, there are 192 facilities listed in New York City, including 49 detox programs and 66 intensive outpatient programs, so a few details help narrow the field.
If you share your insurance type, then an advisor can tell you which of the 165 facilities listing private insurance or 181 listing Medicaid may be a practical fit. Sharing your insurance and situation helps us point you to drug treatment in NYC that matches your coverage and needs. We do not use your details for marketing or any purpose beyond helping you find care.
Times we pass details to providers
We share your information with treatment providers only when you ask to be connected. At that point, we pass along what you have agreed to share so the provider can follow up, and we do not share anything without your request.
Only after you ask for a connection do we share your name and phone number with a provider. If you decide against being connected, then no facility receives your information. We never sell your health information, and we do not pass it to advertisers or unrelated third parties.
Recorded calls and how long we keep them
For quality and training, calls to the helpline may be recorded, and a notice plays at the start. If you would rather not be recorded, tell the advisor and ask them to stop the recording or to continue the call without it.
We keep call records only as long as needed for the purpose above: to follow up on your request, to resolve a concern, or to meet legal requirements. Recordings are kept only as long as necessary and are not used for any other purpose. When the retention period ends, the records are deleted or de-identified.
Your choices and access
You may ask what data we keep on you, ask us to correct it, or request that we delete it, within the limits of legal retention requirements. If you would like your information removed following a call, reach out to us through the details below and we will describe the options.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your helpline information at any time. For clinical records held by a treatment provider, contact that provider directly; their privacy practices are separate from ours.
